Saint-André-des-Eaux. Next summer, the fiber will be operational

An information meeting between the elected officials of Saint-André-des-Eaux (Côtes-d’Armor), Mégalis Bretagne, the mixed union for territorial cooperation in charge of the animation and management of the very high speed Brittany project and development of the uses of electronic communications networks and administration, took place on Tuesday 10 November 2020, in the presence of representatives of Artélia, the international multidisciplinary consulting, engineering and project management group that intervenes in building, infrastructure and industry sectors. Artélia is the prime contractor responsible for developing and supervising the fiber network works.

In January, end of the work

“The objective of the Brittany very high speed project is to make fiber accessible to 100% of Breton households”, explains Antoine Pellan, from Mégalis Bretagne, client.

The fiber deployment work at Saint-Juvat has been completed. They are still in progress in Saint-André-des-Eaux until January. Adjustments will be necessary on the network before acceptance of the works.

“As soon as the works have been accepted, within an incompressible two-month period, the various telephone operators, Orange, SFR, Bouygues and Free, will be invited, after negotiations or commercial agreements with Mégalis, to be able to use the fiber network “, continue l’expert.

160 € connection

For households wishing to benefit from fiber, it will be necessary to contact an operator who has signed an agreement with Mégalis. The connection fee is around € 160.

“This may be offered by some operators as a welcome gift. The price varies according to the distance of the cable pull between the Mégalis socket provided for each household and the housing of the house. If space permits, the cable will be routed through the telecoms sleeve. If there is not enough space, the cable will either be overhead or it will be possible to make a trench, at the request of the household. The operators or their representatives will be obliged to enter the houses to establish the connection ”, adds Laurent Tonnau, from Artélia.

Elected officials anticipated the establishment of new houses. “If no outlet had been provided for a new house, a network extension would then be carried out at the expense of Mégalis. The connection would be the responsibility of the household. “
