Three crews will finally represent Greek sailing at the Olympic Games. Despite the ominous prognosis, the sport that has given us important distinctions in the past managed to secure three tickets to the games that will take place in the sea of Marseille in the Mediterranean.
At the Hyères regatta, the passport was first won by 39-year-old Byron Kokkalanis (iqfoil category, ex-RSX), who has been continuously participating in Olympic Games since 2012.
This was followed by the qualification of the Greek-American Cameron Maramenidis in the formula kite event, while the team was completed today with the siblings Ariadni and Odyssea Spanakis in the mixed category 470, who won 4th place in the pre-Olympic race.
In total Greece has won 8 Olympic medals in sailing: 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze.
