“Sailing Ship Rescued Off Coast of Vlieland After Taking on Water”

NOS News

Off the coast of Vlieland, 25 people on board were taken from a sailing ship that had made water. The ship named Leafde fan Fryslân threatened to sink last night, according to the fire brigade because there was a leak in the bow.

The people on board were removed from the ship around 11 p.m. by the fire brigade and the Royal Dutch Rescue Company (KNRM) and transported to the mainland. The fire service helped pump water out of the three-master. By 00:30 the ship was stable again.

The Leafde fan Fryslân is used for cruises, events, parties and training. The ship has a capacity of 70 people.
