Sailing Ban and Emergency Dike Construction Due to High Water in De Dommel Water Board Area

Dec 27, 2023 at 2:59 PM Update: an hour ago

A sailing ban applies for the time being in the De Dommel Water Board area. The North Brabant water board says that the high water can lead to “dangerous situations”.

Normally, canoeing, sailing and rowing are allowed in several streams in the area.

The water board is busy due to the high water. For example, the water of the Dommel in Sint-Oedenrode is so high that the water board has decided to build an emergency dike there.

In addition, pumps have been placed at various locations to pump out as much water as possible. The dikes are also continuously inspected.

High water has been causing nuisance in the east and south of the Netherlands for several days. In Deventer the IJssel has already reached a critical limit. The peak is expected there on Friday.
