Iranian history records the atrocities of Said Hanai, a serial killer who slaughtered dozens of women. The murder, nicknamed the spider killer, shocked the country Iran in 2000-2001.
The New York Times noted that 16 women were strangled to death with the headscarves they wore in the northeastern part of Mashad which is the second most populous city in Iran.
Said Hanai, who is a construction worker, admitted his sadistic actions. He argued that he killed dozens of women who he claimed were commercial sex workers and drug users.
“They are as worthless as cockroaches to me,” Hanai was quoted as saying by the Norouz daily.
“I can’t sleep at night if I don’t kill one of them. It’s as if I’m addicted to killing them,” he added.
This is the reason Said Hanai is nicknamed ‘Spider Killer’
This murder was once nicknamed the spider killer. What is the reason?
Reported by murderpedia and The New York Times, the public initially thought Said Hanai uses headscarves to ensnare women in the same way spiders use webs to trap their victims. However, it turns out that Said Hanai used the headscarves worn by his victims as an instrument of murder, namely by strangulation.
This terrible event occurred in mid 2000-2001. The New York Times noted that 16 women were strangled to death with the headscarves they wore in the northeastern part of Mashad which is the second most populous city in Iran. However, it was recorded that 3 more women died but Said Hanai did not admit this and said that the 3 women were killed by other people who imitated his actions.
