TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Former Chairman of the Nadhlatul Ulama (NU) Executive Board, Said Aqil Siradjvisited the Nasdem Central Leadership Council (DPP) Office in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, January 9 2024. During the meeting, Said Aqil met with senior officials of the NasDem Party and the National Awakening Party (PKB).
Acting Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Nasdem Party Hermawi Taslim confirmed the meeting. He said this meeting was just an ordinary gathering with no special agenda.
“There was no discussion. The friendship was not discussed either,” he said.
According to Tempo’s monitoring, Said Aqil arrived at Nasdem Tower at 14.00 WIB. He appeared to be wearing green batik and a black skullcap. He smiled at the journalists who were waiting for him and only said that the election should be held peacefully.
“Okay, okay peaceful elections,” he said briefly.

Said Aqil was welcomed and accompanied by Hermawi. Deputy General Chair of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Jazilul Fawaid was also seen entering the Party DPP Office NasDem previously.
Just like Hermawi and Said Aqil, Jazilul was sparing in talking about the agenda for the meeting. He stated that he came to Nasdem Tower only for lunch.
“Lunch, lunch,” said Jazilul, laughing.
NasDem and PKB are part of the Change Coalition with the Prosperous Justice Party. The coalition nominated the pair Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar (Amin) as presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Said Aqil Siroj had previously stated his support for the duet in 2024 presidential election. He considered them to be an ideal duet because they both came from Islamic boarding school circles.
“Pak Anies and Gus Muhaimin are both santri. The nahdliyin already understand which one is a santri and which is not. Those who can’t read the Fatihah fluently understand,” said Kiai Said on the sidelines of the peak reception commemorating National Santri Day at the Islamic Boarding School. Said Aqil Siradj was also sure of his partner Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar can achieve victory in the 2024 presidential election if the Islamic boarding school community solidly supports them. The reason is, according to Said Aqil, there are currently more than 4 million students in Indonesia, not including their families.
“This is the ijtimaiyah wealth belonging to the students. If it is managed well, if it is well disciplined, if it is solid, you will be sure that Pak Anies and Pak Muhaimin will win,” he said at the time.
