FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) has issued a decision regarding the distribution of envelopes at a mosque in Sumenep with a picture of Said Abdullah complete with the PDI Perjuangan logo.
The chairman of the RI Bawaslu, Rahmat Bagja, claimed that his party did not find any indications of election violations in the distribution of the red envelopes.
“The results of the examination and clarification by the Bawaslu show that there were no allegations of election violations in this incident. Thus, the process of handling alleged election violations cannot be carried out,” said Rahmat Bagja, Thursday (6/3/2023).
From the results of witness examinations and the evidence that was received, Rahmat admitted that envelopes were distributed by the mosque management after the Tarawih prayers.
“The characteristics of the envelopes distributed are red, there is an image of the logo of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), there is a picture of a member of the DPR from the F-PDIP, Said Abdullah and the chairman of the DPRD PDIP of Sumenep Regency, Achmad Fauzi, containing Rp. 300,000,” he explained.
Rahmat also reasoned that there were no election violations in the distribution of the envelopes simply because there was no invitation to vote for Said Abdullah or the PDI Perjuangan after being given the envelopes containing the money.
“However, the recipient can think that the envelope containing the money came from Said Abdullah because he saw the picture on the envelope,” he added.
Rahmat then emphasized that the potential for legal snares could be imposed on Said Abdullah for the action of distributing money which he claimed to have often done under the pretext of being zakat.
