The new personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, met on Thursday, November 11, 2021, with the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of China to the UN, Zhang Jun.
“I had the pleasure of meeting Staffan de Mistura, the Secretary-General’s new personal envoy for Western Sahara,” the Chinese ambassador said in a tweet.
During this meeting, the diplomat expressed his country’s “strong” support for the work of the UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy and said he expected a “lasting, just and peaceful solution to the issue of Western Sahara”.
