“I think it’s important to remember that we already had a lot of information about mRNA vaccines under our belt before the pandemic started. So this helped speed up a lot of that initial investigation, ”he says. “This is also an example of how we get everyone, hands down, to work as hard as possible to get a really important vaccine available to our patients. Much of the red tape, some of the deadlines that we normally see, were eliminated because we knew this was very important. The parts of the process that are really important for not taking shortcuts were undoubtedly done exactly the way they were supposed to be. The timelines for administering the vaccines, for later monitoring for side effects, for analyzing that data – all of that was done extremely appropriately. There were no shortcuts.
