FOOTBALL PLAYER the legend of Malaysia, Safee Salichoose Malaysian National Team U-23 back from 2022 AFF U-23 Cup rather than losing to Laos. He said that Covid-19 could not be used as an excuse, considering that the entire team was also experiencing the same problem.
“I think it is better for Malaysia to withdraw from the 2022 AFF U-23 Cup rather than suffer an embarrassing defeat like this,” said Safee Sali, quoting Astro Arena, Tuesday (22/2/2022).

Covid-19 and the lack of quality players brought to Cambodia were some of the reasons given by the coach of the Malaysia U-23 national team, Brad Maloney, why the Young Tiger squad played poorly in the 2022 AFF U-23 Cup.
Just to note, in Malaysia’s match last night there were only 16 players left because a number of players were positive for Covid-19. However, Safee Sali considered the above facts could not be used as an excuse.
He considered Malaysia to improve. The top brass of the Malaysian Football Federation (FAM) is considered by Safee Sali to be improving for the sake of the revival of Malaysian football.
“So I think this problem (falling from Laos) needs to be answered by the relevant parties,” continued Safee Sali.
