Lier –
The City of Lier, in collaboration with the Lier Local Police, is organizing a whole week of information sessions on safe social media use for school-age young people at the Thomas More Campus in Lier from April 15.
“Young people can communicate through social media, express themselves creatively and develop their own online identity. It is important that young people are guided in their exploration of social media and can thus remain involved in a safe way,” says Alderman of Social Affairs Annemie Goris (N-VA).
An information evening on this theme will also be organized on Tuesday, April 16 from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM for parents and educators. “It is important to create awareness among parents and educators about the dangers, so that they can guide young people in the safe and responsible use of social media,” explains Alderman of Education Ivo Andries (Open VLD).
Tip a trick
“Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and YouTube are part of the world of many children and young people. Sometimes things go wrong, especially when cyberbullying or sexting are involved,” says the Lierse city council. “Christophe Van Bortel of the federal judicial police Antwerp – Computer Crime Unit, gives tips and tricks during the information evening to keep your child’s social media use healthy.”
