World crude oil prices continue to soar amid the heating up of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. As a result, fuel prices throughout the world, including Indonesia, could rise. However, PT Pertamina (Persero) ensures that the price of Pertalite fuel will not increase. Pertalite price IDR 7,650/liter, the same as before.

“We fully support the Government’s policy in the recovery of the national economy, so that even though the world oil price has penetrated US$ 130 per barrel, Pertamina continues to coordinate with the Government to decide that the price of Pertalite will remain at the selling price of Rp. 7,650 per liter,” said Vice President Corporate Communications of PT Pertamina. (Persero) Fajriyah Usman in a press release.
According to Fajriah, the price of Pertalite has not changed in the last three years. It should be noted that currently Pertalite’s consumption portion is the largest or around 50% of the total national fuel consumption. For this reason, the Government continues to discuss the Pertalite compensation scenario so that price stabilization can be maintained.
Fajriyah further explained that Pertamina also continues to carry out various efficiencies including reducing the cost of domestic fuel production to reduce the pressure of the spike in world crude oil prices to increase the cost of fuel supply. Among other things, by maximizing the use of domestic crude oil and optimizing the use of natural gas to save energy costs. In parallel, there is also an increase in refinery production for high-value products.
In addition, product price adjustments are also carried out selectively, only for certain non-subsidized fuels such as the Pertamax Series and Dex Series whose consumption portion is only around 15% of the total national fuel consumption.

This type of fuel is mostly consumed by well-to-do consumers, private vehicle owners of the upper middle class. In the future, the price of this fuel product will continue to be adjusted regularly following the market price in accordance with the ESDM Ministerial Regulation No. 62 year 2017.
“Pertamina is very careful in setting prices. However, we believe that this consumer segment has benefited from the benefits of quality fuel that is more efficient and better for vehicle engine maintenance, so that they can receive prices that have remained very competitive compared to other similar products,” he said. .
