Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is intensifying its investigation into the alleged corruption case involving the Secretary-General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Hasto Kristiyanto (HK), who has been named a suspect in a bribery case linked to the management of 2019-2024 DPR RI members. The case has also drawn attention to former convict Saeful Bahri (SB), who has repeatedly failed to comply with KPK summons, prompting warnings of a potential forced pick-up.
KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika stated, “Until now, it is known that Brother Saiful Bahri was not present. I have not been informed whether there is any facts or confirmation of his appropriate and reasonable absence from investigators.” She added, “Of course, if there are none as there have been two calls, then investigators can pick them up using a warrant to bring them to the person concerned.”
The KPK has expressed hope that Saeful will cooperate and not hinder the investigation. Saeful was previously summoned on Wednesday (8/1) but did not appear. Tessa emphasized, “Tho, in this case the corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is working through investigators. It also hopes that the person concerned will be cooperative. Not to do anything especially that could hinder the investigation process.”
Meanwhile, the KPK summoned several individuals on Tuesday (14/1) related to the fugitive Harun Masiku corruption case, which also involves Hasto Kristiyanto. Witnesses included Hasto’s staff, Kusandi (K), and Saeful Bahri (SB). Tessa explained, “Today, Tuesday (14/1), the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) scheduled an examination of witnesses on alleged bribery related to the management of the 2019-2024 DPR RI members at the KPU, for suspect HK.” She further detailed, “K is self-employed/staff of Hasto Kristiyanto (Secretary General of PDIP). SB is self-employed, member of PDI Perjuangan cadre.”
Additionally, three other individuals were summoned: Saffar M Godam, a civil servant; Nur Hasan, task force security at the PDI Perjuangan DPP office; and Jhoni Ginting, a BUMN employee. The inspections were conducted at the KPK’s Red and White building.
