Today, March 5, President Sadyr Japarov congratulated the people of Kyrgyzstan on the Day of Ak Kalpak and National Clothes.
The text of congratulations of the head of state:
“Dear compatriots!
I sincerely congratulate you on the Day of Ak Kalpak and National Clothes!
This day unites all those who make an invaluable contribution to the spiritual development of society and the popularization of the rich cultural heritage of our people, who are not indifferent to its past, present and future.
Intangible cultural values inherited from our ancestors, being the most important component of the national culture as a whole, the basis of national identity, strengthening the spiritual connection of generations and eras, play a key role in shaping the cultural policy of our country.
National clothes are not just clothes, it is the culture and history of the people, their traditions and way of life. It, as a vivid indicator of national identity, helps to preserve the cultural and spiritual heritage of the past, so this holiday is celebrated with pleasure in all corners of the republic, in cities and villages.
Holding such events contributes to the development of interest in the culture and traditions of the Kyrgyz people, the formation of a sense of pride in the native land, respect for the work of craftsmen.
In this regard, I express my gratitude to our artisans who are the bearers of the intangible cultural heritage. Traditional clothing and headwear made by them contribute to the preservation, development and recognition of historical and cultural values throughout the world, reflecting the greatness of the nation.
Ak kalpak has long been considered a traditional men’s headdress of the Kyrgyz, the heritage of their ancestors and embodies a deep national philosophy. The uniqueness of the Kyrgyz headdress ak kalpak is that it has survived to this day, in continuation of historical traditions.
Despite the fact that today Kyrgyzstan is a modern independent state, society shows respect for the traditional clothes of our people, which are carefully passed down from generation to generation. Therefore, preserving the cultural heritage of our ancestors and passing it on to future generations is the duty of each of us!
Dear Kyrgyzstanis, Happy Holidays again! On this beautiful day, I wish you good health, peace, kindness, and prosperity and well-being to our state!”
