Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) in the Restaurant Sector, Emil Arifin, revealed that hundreds of thousands of daily employees at restaurants were dismissed due to the tightening of PSBB DKI Jakarta. The PSBB was extended until 11 October.
“So I think nearly 200,000 (daily employees). That’s only in the mall, not at the hotel, not yet independent, independent, there are already 4 thousand restaurants in DKI Jakarta. He explained that 200,000 daily employees are spread across 85 malls in Jakarta, with a rough count of 80 restaurants per mall. One restaurant is assumed to employ 50 employees for 2 shifts, 70% of whom are daily employees.
“As soon as the PSBB was announced to be tightened on Thursday, then Monday will become effective, right, on Tuesday it is gone, the daily employees are not used,” he explained.
This kind of thing is inevitable because the restaurant business conditions are already apprehensive. During the strict PSBB period, restaurants were not allowed to dine in.
“It is really difficult for all the restaurants, I just want to do it,” he said.
Even though the restaurant has invested in improving health protocols to support its business.
“During the PSBB transition, we haven’t made money yet. It’s just running cash flow so that it can run, and we also invest mostly for the PSBB, starting with disinfectants, cleaning tools, personal protection equipment. We follow the COVID protocol. right, “he added.
