SADC ministers analyze the level of execution of regional programs in Luanda – Jornal OPaís

The Council of Ministers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) will meet in the Angolan capital, Luanda, to analyze progress made in implementing regional programs

The meeting, which takes place on the 10th and 11th of March, will be preceded by the meeting of the SADC Standing Committee of Senior Officials, to be held today and tomorrow, and by the meeting of the Finance Committee, which will be held on the 6th of March .

The work of the Council of Ministers meeting will be guided by the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, in his capacity as current president-in-office of the SADC Council of Ministers. Meeting in Gaberone, Botswana, at its 13th meeting, the SADC Committee of Ambassadors and High Commissioners reported on the main issues that will be analyzed at this meeting of the SADC Council of Ministers.

The meeting also discussed SADC’s budget for the year 2024/2025, with emphasis on the mobilization of resources for two SADC missions in Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Council of Ministers oversees the functioning and development of SADC and ensures the concomitant execution of policies and decisions. The Council comprises Ministers, as a rule, responsible for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Economic Planning, Finance or Trade, from the 16 SADC Member States, and meets twice a year, namely in March and August.

During the two days of work, the ministers will review and discuss the degree of compliance with the decisions of the Council and the Summit, the progress made in terms of materializing the motto of the 43rd SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government .

The main factors for the Sustainable Industrialization of the SADC Region, the Strategic Indicative Plan for Regional Development for 2020-2030 and the SADC Humanitarian and Emergency Operations Center (SHOC), as well as the disasters that occurred in the region, will also be analyzed. The Council will also approve the Annual Institutional Plan and the budget of the SADC Secretariat for the financial year 2024/25.
