Sada already has the first adapted taxi
European regulations indicate that at least 5% of the taxis in each municipality must be adapted to the needs of people with reduced mobility, something that is not always met.
In the case of the City Council of Sada, only a month ago the first of these vehicles was made available to the town.
Ramp and more comfortable access
The service is both for these people and for other clients, so the number of places available varies.
The vehicle has a total of seven seats, including the driver’s, and in the case of serving a person in a wheelchair, the two rear seats can be moved aside, thus leaving five seats in total.
In addition, something essential to allow easy access to the car is the existence of a ramp, which can be electric or manual, like the one in Sada’s vehicle.
Enabling a eurotaxi involves an expense of between 9,000 and 10,000 euros, depending on whether the tools are electric or manual.
The Xunta has opened a period until October 14, 2020 to request aid for the acquisition of these cars adapted for people with reduced mobility (eurotaxi).
