SAD NEWS A well-known sports ICON and coach has passed away

BRATISLAVA – Our former successful gymnast Pavel Gajdoš died in Prague at the age of 86. The municipality of Petrovce n/L informs about the sad news through the social network. “Yesterday (December 6), an honorable citizen of our village, Mr. Pavel Gajdoš, left for eternity”, I write in the post.

Pavel Gajdoš was a high level gymnast, he participated in two Olympic Games (Rome 1960 – 4th place and Tokyo 1964 – 6th place) and 13 times champion of Czechoslovakia and Czechoslovakia. Gajdoš was also successful at the World Championships. In Moscow in 1958 he won bronze with the team, which he also won in 1962 in Prague.

Later, when he finished as a professional, he worked as a coach in the Dukla Praha team. He has brought several representatives there. After the transfer of sports gymnastics from Prague to Banská Bystrica, he remained in Prague for family reasons and worked in the Higher Sports Administration of the Czech Republic. He Retired with the rank of colonel in 1993.

He started gymnastics with his father Ján’s homemade equipment. While studying in Prešov, he also played football in the Tatras, but gradually his interest in gymnastics prevailed.
