Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – It turns out that the Toyota Avanza has to fall from the throne of the king of RI’s best-selling car in 2022, after losing to the Honda Brio. Data from Gaikindo shows that Avanza sold 60,624 units last year, only 6401 units less than the Brio which sold 61,025 units.
Currently, sales of Avanza are no longer integrated with Toyota Veloz. If sales of the two are combined, it can reach more than 90 thousand units. The Veloz sold 32,017 units and is in the top 10 positions.
The superiority of the Avanza cannot be separated from its achievements which have always maintained the best-selling car for 4 consecutive months, from June to September. In September, this car recorded sales of 6,855 units. In second place comes Brio, which sold 6,246 units.
Competition between Avanza and Brio heated up in the last three months of 2022. At first, Avanza was still too strong before being overtaken by Brio in the last month. During the first-third quarter of 2022 or January-September 2022, cars for a million people remained the best-selling with 46,764 units. Its competitors had to settle for second place by selling 42,615 units.
The following month’s sales recap also did not change much. As of January-October 2022, Avanza is still king with sales of 51,772 units. Honda Brio trailed in second place with sales of 48,216 units.
The surprise actually happened in December 2022. At that time, Avanza and Brio were not in first place, but Brio recorded bigger sales by selling 5,896 units in third place. While Avanza followed below by selling 5,043 units.
This is not the first time Avanza has bounced from the best-selling car.
Currently the difference is slight, whereas in 2019 Brio sold 40,879 units. The Toyota Avanza is far behind in third place with a difference of more than 5,000 units, 35,754 units to be exact.
This is how Avanza’s journey for the past 5 years, has always been overshadowed by its destroyer until its throne as the king of RI’s best-selling car was taken.
