Sacred Lands – From 05/20/2021 to 05/26/2021 – Saint-Tropez

The contemporary aboriginal art movement draws its inspiration from ‘Dreamtime’, a complex concept that founds the cosmogony of the first inhabitants of the Australian continent. For 50,000 years, the Aborigines have transmitted, reactivated, updated the mythical stories of the time of creation through their dreams, songs and dances, during ritual and initiation ceremonies, but also through rock art, drawings on sand and body paintings with sacred motifs still in use to this day.

The works on display, coming directly from the central Australian desert, highlight the inseparable spiritual and cultural links between the artists and the lands they represent. These paintings thus perpetuate, with energy, vitality and astonishing modernity, the inherent memory of Australian ancestral lands, the sacred and legitimate lands of the Australian Aborigines.
