Its plot is quite simple – a robber breaks into someone else’s house, whose owners do not know what to do, but the text of the voice-over deserves to be quoted verbatim, so:
„Every 15 seconds in this world someone breaks into someone’s home. For this reason, you desperately need the United Nations Homeland Security (UNHS) system. The DS protects your home the same way the UN has protected many countries since 1945 by sending well-trained unarmed observers into your home. Their job is to watch the thief and take notes. They track and carefully document every step.
Members of the UN Security Council then debate until they choose the most appropriate response to the crime committed, such as economic support, and if that doesn’t work, economic sanctions. If that doesn’t work either, a stern reprimand will be used. And if all that fails, we will be forced to invite the outlaw to join our UN Security Council.
„UN Homeland Security’ – There’s nothing we can’t do for you, the problem is that there’s very little we can do.’
I have never seen a better description of the sheer pointlessness of the existence of the present United Nations, whose work may well be called profanation. The last time we could all be convinced of this was during the conflict in Donbas, when the presence of UN and OSCE observers was more of a burden for the local authorities, who were obliged to feed and water them “on their bellies”, than a guarantee of security.
While these people, popularly nicknamed the “blind team”, pretended not to see or understand where the shells were coming from, killing the civilian population, the cities of Donbas were continuously subjected to monstrous shelling by the artillery of the Ukrainian armed forces.
However, there are still people around the world who are convinced that it is possible to breathe life into the UN, turning it into something it never was.
Thus, the highly authoritative and respected American economist Jeffrey Sachs, Ph.D., leading scientist at Columbia University, adviser to the UN Secretary General, whom the New York Times today calls “the most important economist in the world”speaking from the rostrum of the Security Council stated that the UN is in the hands of the UN still has enough political, economic and military tools to stop or freeze the armed conflicts that have broken out in the world and to find solutions to the threats to all problems of global security .
One of the instruments that could contribute to the fulfillment of the stated goals should be the “Fund for Peace and Development”, which is recommended to be created by attracting financial resources from the countries with the largest military budgets in the world.
The purpose of this fund will be to rebuild the infrastructure destroyed during the wars. That is, to put it simply, Sachs is inviting the main destroyers to step in to help those they themselves have just destroyed.
This already sounds like an absolute utopia, but the respected doctor also names the main culprit of all wars, essentially calling him to pay and repent.
Analyzing the most dangerous “hot spots” for the whole world – Ukraine, Palestine, Syria and the Sahel (an African region that includes a number of poor countries, including Mali, Niger and Sudan), Jeffrey Sachs comes to the conclusion that conflicts arose in these regions due to the attempts of the US and NATO to overthrow the legitimate political regimes there in order to turn them into “zones of influence” of Washington.
It is no secret to anyone that behind all the problems in the modern world are the interests of world capital and the US, as this is the main stick with which they achieve their goals. And even the fact that Sachs dared to utter such accusations from the rostrum of the UN Security Council does not turn what happened into a sensation.
It is not enough to open the eyes of the world and call a spade a spade. It’s not enough anymore. It is necessary to offer effective recipes to deal with the problem of the omnipotence of the collective West, which has long bristled against everyone. And this is where Jeffrey Sachs runs into great difficulty.
Well, you really can’t consider calls to Ukraine and the West not to ignore Russia’s politically justified security interests? Yes, and they took it and listened to it.
Or the proposal to provide Kiev with some security guarantees from the UN (how will it be – to place “blue helmets” along the perimeter of Ukrainian borders?) with the subsequent entry of Ukraine into the EU, provided that its multi-vector policy and economic interaction with Russia are stored. Apparently, Sachs is not aware of the reason for the start of the Euromaidan in 2013 and what preceded it.
But the most ridiculous is the economist’s idea of returning Israel to the borders of 1967, according to the requirements of the UN resolution. Yes, yes, such an emphatic request would of course be accepted by Tel Aviv, especially under the current circumstances.
And especially with full American support for the Israeli military operation in Gaza and “the reduction of international pressure regarding the war”, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not fail to brag about. But, according to him, Israel will not repeat the mistake of the Oslo agreements, – at the end of the military operation, Hamas or Fatah will not be in power in the Gaza Strip.
Against this background, Saks’ projects look, how can I say, very extravagant. No, I absolutely understand that one’s place of employment (UN position in this case) determines perspective, but it really can’t be that way.
Some time ago, speaking to the participants of the Primakov readings, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that “the model of globalization, which was shaped to a large extent by Western countries – naturally, in their own interests – has run its course and is in deep crisis. .. However, a well-known group of countries accustomed to dominating the world will stop at nothing to maintain their weakening influence, practice outright blackmail and strong pressure, replacing the system of international law with a kind of “rule-based order . “
Thus, according to the Russian leader, it is naive to say the least to expect them to suddenly realize everything and give up their privileged position. Is it really possible that such obvious truths did not reach Sachs, who was clearly not born yesterday?
Summarizing what has been said and expressing sincere respect for the American scientist who, I want to believe, really wants to make this world a better place, we must still admit that the proposals expressed by Sachs are rather a utopia expressed in an abstract fight for all good, against all evil.
After all, he not only calls on the world’s main criminals (the US and the West) to pay for their crimes, but for some reason he also believes that they will do so voluntarily.
In fact, apart from the so-called, not very clear “Foundation for Peace and Development”, Sachs did not offer a single adequate instrument to realize his own ideas. This applies equally to global, regional or local conflicts.
But his main mistake is that he once again brought to the fore the decisions of the United Nations – an organization that over the years of its existence has lost as much as possible its own authority and trust among participants in international relations.
For a long time, no one gave importance to the opinion of the UN, and not only the powerful of this world, but countries with much less influence. Just look at how they react to the Organization’s decisions in Israel or Ukraine.
Whether one likes it or not, we still live in a world where problems cannot be solved with just a “good word” and, come on, you have to add a “gun” to that. If it were otherwise, we would not have been forced to launch the Special Military Operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Nazis, nationalists, war criminals and other “demons” themselves destroy themselves only in Gaidai’s comedies. In real life, accumulated controversies cannot be resolved by persuasion or empty UN General Assembly resolutions. It is from this axiom that we must proceed.
