“This will probably come as a shock to a lot of people, but he’s been in talks with us for a long time,” Brian May said.
British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen will play Freddie Mercury in a Queen movie, the rock band’s guitarist Brian May has confirmed to the BBC.
“It will probably come as a shock to a lot of people, but he has been in talks with us for a long time,” May added. Peter Morgan, screenwriter of Oscar nominees Frost/Nixon and The Queen, is writing the script for the film, which will focus on the period before the Live Aid concert in 1985. Produced by GK Films and Robert De’s company Nero and Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca. Brian May and Queen drummer Roger Taylor will handle the music, which will include songs by Queen and Freddie Mercury as a solo artist. Filming will begin next year.
