Sabrinath, who is immortal in the lineage of Aurobindo Special | Deshabhimani

Despite being a talented painter and cartoonist, Sabrinath was best known as Ramu in the cartoon series ‘Cheriya Manaur Ulu Vaila Lokam’ which gained popularity through the weekly Mathrubhumi. Sabrinath’s resemblance in look and feel to Ram immortalized by G Aravind was so great. Aravindan created Ramu in the same image with Sabrinath’s knowledge and consent as both were neighbors, classmates and relatives.

It wasn’t just the bird’s nest hair and pointed face that Aravindan transferred from Sabrinath to Ramu. The youth group, including Aravindan, saw, said and worried about Tirunakkara’s dismissal. Along with the concerns of Ramu’s middle class family, the glories of the era, politics, cinema and music came and went.
