Short n’ Sweet speaks for all
An album that leaves us with some lyrics that are very easy to identify with if you have gone through one of those short, intense relationships, or ones that have not even materialized, and have remained a simple (but painful) “almost something.” The song Dumb & Poetic refers to the ghosting and the abandonment so characteristic of this type of volatile links: “Just ’cause you act like one doesn’t make you a man. Don’t think you understand. Just ’cause you leave like one doesn’t make you a man. [Solo porque actúes como tal, no te hace un hombre. No creo que lo entiendas. Solo porque te marches como uno, no te hace un hombre]”.
Another example that the artist leaves us about these loves, capable of blinding and making us see a different reality is Lie To Girls. Carpenter sings like this: “You don’t have to lie to girls. If they like you, they’ll just lie to themselves. [No tienes que mentir a las chicas. Si les gustas, se mentirán a sí mismas]”. Because yes, sometimes we are capable of lying even to ourselves to stay on the tightrope.
Also There is room in this album for the most amorous girls. In Juno (a reference to the 2007 film starring Elliot Page), Sabrina sings: “You make me wanna make you fall in love. [Me haces querer enamorarte]” o “I know you want my touch for life. If you love me right, then who knows? I might let you make me Juno. [Sé que quieres mi tacto para toda la vida. Si me quieres bien, ¿quién sabe? Puede que te deje hacerme Juno]”.
