Sabotage method makes electric scooters in Oslo useless

The last few days have TV 2 received several photos where you can see that the QR code on the electric scooters is overpainted, which makes the two-wheelers impossible to use.

– The desire for a more sensible regulation does not legitimize that some people commit vandalism. We will report this, says Tier’s marketing manager, Lars Christian Grødem-Olsen.

Christina Moe Gjerde, head of the electric scooter supplier Voi, believes that stricter regulation of the market will dampen moods. She says she understands that many are frustrated.

– We currently have between 2,000 and 3,000 electric scooters in Oslo. Overnight, a new player can come with as many. No one has control over the whole, she says TV 2.

The tier manager says that it does not take long before the sabotaged bicycles are picked up, as the company’s systems report when the bicycles have not been used for a while.

Stein Leikanger, who leads the protest group “Let’s take the sidewalks back”, confirms that many believe that sabotaging the electric scooters is a step in the right direction.

– Some jump into the group without reading our driving rules and think such methods are expedient. But they are not, he emphasizes.
