Georgian football player Saba Lobjanidze, who lived in Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes in Hatay, talked about those moments and what he experienced afterwards. Describing the moment of the earthquake, the 28-year-old football player stated that the situation was very difficult and the dimensions of the disaster were very large. We saw with our own eyes that all the buildings were destroyed, that all the people suffered greatly, that they cried, that they were very sad. Explaining that his teammate Christian Atsu, who died in the earthquake, was a very good person, Lobjanidze said:
“There was not the slightest mistake or mistake for anyone on and off the field. He was always positive and cheerful. We will always remember him for the best. It’s a great tragedy. We were at a game just 10 hours before the earthquake and there was a last minute free kick. At the freekick, I wanted to be in charge of the ball, but at that moment Atsu told me that he felt it and that if he kicked it, he would score. He also scored. He was truly born into it. We were very happy, very happy. We experienced this joy together, we celebrated the victory together. But unfortunately, after this golden and the match, the sad event took place. Explaining that they came to Istanbul after the earthquake and that she wanted to go to her teammates’ families and loved ones, Saba Lobjanidze stated that she lived alone in Hatay and that she went to her family in Georgia after the earthquake and spent time there.
Lobjanidze, who stated that good things should always be done and pursued good in life, said, “When you do good, good things find you. In this sense, there is no change in my outlook on life, in terms of pursuing the good. Maybe we can make them even more important and increase them. Evil should also be avoided. There are no radical changes in my mind that I distinguish between before and after the earthquake.” made the statement.
