On Friday evening, the Saale Bulls hosted the youngest team in the Oberliga Nord in Halle’s Sparkassen-Eisdom. The team from Krefelder EV presented itself as a changeable team in its last game, and also in the previous matches against Halle. So you could often be dangerous to the Bulls. But the MEC did not want to let it come that far on its own ice and continue the current winning streak with five games won.
The home side set a first exclamation mark for this goal immediately after the Anbully. After just 21 seconds, Tatu Vihavainen pushed the puck into Nils Kapteinat’s goal net and took the 1-0 lead. The guests had to digest this early deficit and so the people of Halle could continue to put pressure on. But as the game progressed, the Krefeld team got better and better into the game and with a penalty time in the 8th minute it should have been dangerous in front of Halle’s goal.
But even with one man less on the ice, the Saalestädter went on the offensive. Again it was Tatu Vihavainen who fought his way alone in front of the Krefeld goal and this time was successful for the Bulls after 15 seconds outnumbered. With a score of 2: 0, the people of Halle had already played a comfortable lead and were able to approach the remaining third a little more easily. Correspondingly more parts of the game fell to the KEV, whose attacks ended with Sebastian Albrecht and it went into the break with a 2-0 lead.
After the break, the guests from Krefeld came back stronger on the ice and it was a pretty even game, as the Bulls could no longer bring full pressure on the ice. In this way, KEV secured ever larger shares of the game and kept standing in front of the Bulls’ goal. But the defense was secure, and the home side remained active on the offensive thanks to the counterattack. In contrast to the first third, however, they weren’t that dangerous for goals, as most of the attacks ended too quickly. Likewise, the two outnumbered games could not be used for further goals.
After the shots of the Halle residents only ricocheted off the Krefeld’s housing with loud noises, they showed in the 34th minute that they could still score goals. The birthday child Michal Schön sank Kyle Helms’ pass to make it 3-0. The score was thus certainly expanded and the Krefeld team did not manage to use their superior number game for the first goal in return. Shortly before the second interruption, the KEV had the best chance for a hit, as Albrecht was already on the ice and the gate was wide open, but this shot ended up at the goal post.
So it went into the last third with a score of 3-0 and there were no major changes in the respective game strategies. Furthermore, the guests were quite active on the ice, but the Saalestädter remained more effective. Because again they bet on the counterattack, and again Lukas Valasek added 4-0 in the 44th minute.
Despite the already clear score, the guests did not want to give up and repeatedly went into the third of the Bulls. But even these trains usually ended just behind the blue line. How to use his attacks showed the people of Halle in the 54th minute. First Tim May was able to use the Bulls’ renewed superiority to 5-0 and another 36 seconds later Kyle Helms lifted the black disc over Kapteina and scored 6-0.
Since the Bulls were outnumbered again two minutes before the end, the Krefeld team turned it up again and were at least able to reward themselves with a consolation goal from Adrian Grygiel in the 59th minute. The home side continued their winning streak and earned three more points. Away on Sunday, the Saale Bulls will go to the Hanseatic city to the Crocodiles Hamburg.
