S9, the Silk Faw hybrid hypercar was born between Ferrari and Lambo – Mondo Auto

The Motor Valley welcomes a new protagonist who makes his debut in society far from the land of motors but who is preparing to be a protagonist from Reggio Emilia all over the world. At Milan Design Week Silk Faw showed the S9 project, the hybrid hypercar of the American and Chinese joint-venture which will be the progenitor of a new generation of electrified cars that will be born with a large Italian contribution. Starting from the design, entrusted to the expert and far-sighted advice of Walter de Silva, former Alfa Romeo and Volkswagen Group, passing through the managers Amedeo Felisa and Roberto Fedeli, two former Ferraris and ending with Katia Bassi who comes from Lamborghini equally boasting an experience in Maranello. All under the orders of Jonathan Krane, a star and stripes entrepreneur, deus ex machina of this adventure in the Motor Valley.

So under the spotlight of Milan Design Week ends the S9, an electrified hypercar that uses a structure similar to those used in Formula 1, with a long-fiber carbon core. La powertrain consists of a 4.0-liter V8 engine paired with two 918 hp turbo electric units. Added to this are three electric motors, two at the front and one connected to the gearbox, an 8-speed double clutch, which unleash 530 HP for a total system power of 1,148 HP. Traction is rear. From a performance point of view, the S9 puts monstrous numbers on the plate: maximum speed exceeding 400 km / h, with the ability to go from 0 to 100 km / h in just 1.9 seconds, less than 6 seconds to reach 200, less than 11 to reach 300 and longitudinal acceleration of up to 1.8 g. The Silk Faw electrified racing car will also guarantee the possibility of proceeding in full electric, with a limited mileage range since it was decided to favor weight savings. The autonomy will therefore be only 20 km even if the accumulators will guarantee fast recharging thanks to the 800 Volt architecture.

“The new S9 is a hypercar born in the future”said Katia Bassi, managing director of Silk Faw at Il Resto del Carlino – “The new campus will be located on an area of 360 thousand square meters. Next to the production site and the style center there will be an Innovation center, an incubator for startups, a circuit for our customers’ test drives, a 5-star hotel. The Silk Faw project has an investment projection of 1.3 billion euros, of which more than 38% in research and development. There are more than a thousand hires in our pipeline over the next few years. “ The first prototypes of the S9 will arrive on the road by next spring, with the price for the production units expected to reach $ 2 million. After the plug-in hybrid hypercar, three electric-only models will arrive: the S7 sedan and two other cars, S5 and S3, designed and engineered in Italy but produced in China.
