There have been significant problems with the Berlin S-Bahn since early Thursday morning. Traffic in the tunnel of the north-south lines is interrupted after a train jumped off the track at Friedrichstrasse station.
As the S-Bahn Berlin announced via Twitter, traffic on lines S1, S2, S25 and S26 is interrupted. There are no trains between Potsdamer Platz and Nordbahnhof stations. Operation is restricted on the remaining sections. A replacement bus service was set up.
The S-Bahn recommended that passengers bypass the blocked section with the Ringbahn, the Stadtbahn or the U-Bahn or regional train.
Between Potsdamer Platz and Nordbahnhof or between Oranienburger Straße and Oranienburg there was at least a 20-minute cycle in the afternoon.

Why the bogie jumped out of the rails is still unclear. Investigations were ongoing and Deutsche Bahn was providing the authorities with extensive support. Technicians are currently on site to bring the affected train to the workshop in Wannsee.
The spokesman continued: “We are working flat out to clear the route again. In the course of the day, a track should first be released again. “
