S-Bahn between Zurich and Winterthur: expansion claims nature

Preparations for the extension of the rail connections between Zurich and Winterthur are on track. In contrast to the diameter line, the next railway extension will also require nature and the landscape.

The tunnel is the lesser problem. The SBB is expected to start building two tubes between Winterthur Töss and Bassersdorf and Dietlikon in five years’ time. There were already plans under Brütten more than thirty years ago, which is why we speak of the Brütten tunnel. In the future, however, this will mostly run underground in the neighboring community, which is why it should actually be called Lindau Tunnel.
