Ryszarda Hanin got engaged to her student. Years later, he left for another actress

Richard Hanin she was only 20 years old when she married the writer Leon Pasternak and got an extra job at the Polish Drama Theater in Lviv. However, it was only in 1944, when she joined the City Theater ensemble in Lutsk, that she felt that acting was the profession she wanted to use for the rest of her life.

She gave herself completely to the theater because she did not feel fulfilled when she married Pasternak.

When she met Jan Świderski, who was more than 10 years her senior, in the first rehearsal for “Wesele” at the Ryszard Polish Army Theater, who was more than 10 years her senior, she realized that she had made an unforgivable mistake by marrying Leon Pasternak. She fell in love with Świderski as a teenager, and – to her great joy – he returned the feeling. Their mutual friend, Andrzej Łapicki, wrote many years later in one of his books that Ryszarda and Jan loved each other like crazy.

“It was a famous romance of 1945, moving the whole theater,” Łapicki recalled in “Nothing has happened”.

Everything showed that Ryszard Hanin and Jan Świderski had a common future. She was ready to leave Pasternak, but she did not want to make him divorce his girlfriend, the actress Lidia Zamkow, because she was her best friend.

Ryszarda Hanin – since there was no chance of her becoming Świderski’s wife – decided that she would have to be content with being friends with him. She stayed with Leon Pasternak, but their marriage was already a sham.

Ryszard and Leon officially broke up several years later – the writer took the blame for breaking up their relationship, admitting that he liked to drink and made a few trips to his conscience. The actress never confirmed that she had cheated on him with Świderski, and that she was previously in love with Jacek Woszcerowicz (he was the one who directed “Wesele” with her as the bride and Jan Świderski as the groom), who sent her out. Woszcerowicz admired her as an actress, but dismissed her as a woman.

Even before he broke up with Pasternak, Ryszard Hanin started working at the Warsaw theater school and she fell in love with one of her students. Jan Matyjaszkiewicz, because we are talking about him, was much younger than her, but he did not see the world beyond her.

“When our hands met for the first time, I felt like I was sixteen again and I liked it for the first time,” he said in an interview, recalls Ryszarda Hanin on Radio Poland.

That’s it Jan Matyjaszkiewicz was the first to learn that Leon Pasternak had finally decided to leave his wife. The writer told him personally about it. He announced that he was leaving for another woman (he married Zofia Gutowska), and he was responsible for the care of “the” Rysia.

Ryszard Hanin and Leon Pasternak stayed in touch. The writer even included his first wife in his will, and after his death, the actress entered her married status in the field: “widow” in all documents.

Fate played a cruel joke on Ryszarda Hanin, as… when she decided in 1969 – after fifteen years of living with Matyjaszkiewicz – to finally marry, she left for the actress Anna Borowiec. She got to know him a lot, but she didn’t show her ex-boyfriend that she was suffering.

Ryszarda Hanin spent the last 25 years of her life without anyone by her side. But she was not alone. She could not have children, so she adopted a boy from an orphanagewhere she often worked as a volunteer. She called him a “chosen son”.

In one of the interviews, she admitted that she was not destined to be happy in love, but … the men she loved weren’t “the right ones”.

Ryszarda Hanin died on January 1, 1994 at a friends home where she had gone for New Year’s Eve after leaving the sanatorium in Otwock. She was 74 years old.
