Ryanair’s loss has deepened, but the company is optimistic

In the first financial quarter, which ended on June 30, Ryanair increased the number of passengers carried to 8.1 million from half a million a year ago.

The company now expects to carry 90 to 100 million passengers throughout the financial year. In the previous forecast, the number of passengers was estimated at 80 to 100 million.

Last financial year, the number of passengers carried due to the spread of coronavirus fell to 27.5 million from 149 million the previous year.

Covid-19 continued to cause chaos in our business in the first quarter,” said Ryanair chief Michael O’Leary.

He pointed out that the company had to cancel most Easter flights and that the release of travel restrictions in the European Union was slower than expected.

O’Leary also predicted that the number of passengers would increase to almost nine million in July from more than five million in June. It should exceed ten million in August, unless there are further coronavirus complications in Europe.
