– Our goal is to cut out check-in desks at airports, just like we did with baggage counters. Everything will be handled through the app, which will make the process completely digital and we will completely cut out paper, Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said at a press conference in Aath Dublin this week.
The Irishman announced that from May 2025 it will cost NOK 550 to check in at the airport when traveling with the low-cost airline, writes The daily newspaper.
It will still be free to check-in electronically, via the web or the Ryanair app. For those who don’t have a smartphone, O’Leary suggests borrowing someone else’s phone.
It specifies that the boarding passes will still be available, for example if technical problems arise.
60 percent of those who travel with the low-cost airline already use electronic check-in solutions, Ryanair says.
