Ryanair Strike: More Than 200 Canceled Flights and 1,250 Delays in Spanish Airports

After the six days of strikes called by the unions of the low-cost airline Ryanair delayed at the end of June and beginning of July, until last Saturday they have generated more than 200 canceled flights and more than 1,250 delays in Spanish airports.

The airline workers have extended their protest for 12 more days. They demand that the airline change its attitude and that it resume the negotiation of a collective agreement that includes decent working conditions and under Spanish law for its workers, they have stated in a statement.

They denounce, among other things, that the Irish company does not respect Spanish labor legislation, such as the annual number of vacation days and in relation to wages, they recall that some workers are hired by the hour and earn less than the minimum interprofessional wage (SMI). .

The organizing unions, USO and Sitcpla, have announced days of strikes on 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 and 28 July in the 10 Spanish airports where Ryanair operates: Madrid, Malaga, Seville, Alicante, Valencia, Barcelona, ​​Girona, Santiago de Compostela, Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca.

The 12 new strike days will last 24 hours and all Ryanair workers in Spain are called upon to support them.
