Ryanair is flying from Linz to London again

HÖRSCHING. The airline Ryanair has officially opened winter flight operations at Linz/Hörsching airport with the introduction of a new route from Linz to London. The route will be flown four times a week.

Linz Airport is the fourth Austrian airport that Ryanair is now flying to again, after Klagenfurt, Salzburg and Vienna. The low-cost airline is thus closing a gap in international direct flights to/from Linz Airport. Linz Airport Managing Director Norbert Draskovits: “We are very pleased that Ryanair has returned to Linz. With London-Stansted we can offer the Upper Austrian market one of the most popular city destinations and at the same time be connected to the most important European travel market. We hope that the connection will be well received as we will then have the opportunity to talk to Ryanair about additional frequencies and connections.”

“Ryanair is pleased to be operating the Linz-London route four times a week in the winter timetable. This expansion underlines Ryanair’s commitment to expanding tourism, local jobs and international connections in Upper Austria and offers a low-cost alternative to high-cost airlines such as Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines,” said Ryanair’s Andreas Gruber.

Demand to government

For Ryanair, the air traffic tax of twelve euros represents an obstacle to the upswing and recovery of air traffic in Austria after the Covid19 pandemic. Ryanair is therefore once again calling on the new government to abolish this tax and to take measures to reduce costs and promote tourism and the to seize economic growth. Ryanair could increase traffic in Austria by 50 percent in the next five years, but only if the new government abolishes air traffic taxes, the airline says.
