The Irish airline “Ryanair” has just inaugurated a domestic connection between Ouarzazate and Tangier, which will be operated with two weekly flights.
The inaugural flight of this new service, carried out with a Boeing 737 type aircraft with a capacity of 180 seats, landed at Ouarzazate airport from Tangier Ibn Battouta airport.
A ceremony was organized on this occasion at the Ouarzazate international airport in the presence of the airport director, Ismail Aghouzaf, elected officials and several local officials.
On this occasion, Mr. Aghouzaf indicated that the inaugural flight of this new domestic link landed at Ouarzazate airport with 120 passengers on board, stressing that this new service reinforces the air links provided from this airport platform. .
The company “Ryanair” announced, in December 2023, that it had obtained approval to operate domestic flights in Morocco. As part of this expansion, the carrier is launching 11 domestic routes connecting 9 Moroccan destinations, namely Agadir, Errachidia, Essaouira, Fez, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Oujda, Tangier and Tetouan.
These new flights will contribute to opening up certain regions such as Ouarzazate, Essaouira or Errachidia, while allowing international visitors to extend their stay in several cities, thus stimulating tourism across all regions of Morocco.
The Irish company, number one in Europe in terms of number of passengers transported, plans to double its annual traffic in Morocco to reach more than 10 million passengers by 2027, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Economy Social and Solidarity.
