Ryanair announces return to Northern Ireland – Business

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will return to Northern Ireland in the summer of 2023, it announced on Thursday. The low-cost carrier will serve 12 destinations, or 115 flights a week, from Belfast International Airport.

Ryanair announced last year that it would stop flying from Belfast International Airport and Belfast City Airport from the fall of 2021. The company intended to denounce “the British government’s refusal to suspend or reduce the passenger tax as well as the lack of incentives in the context of post-pandemic recovery”.

Cost concerns remain – “the UK government must immediately eliminate air taxes on all flights or the UK risks losing flights to mainland Europe”, the carrier continues. But when it comes to the capital of Northern Ireland, “a long-term agreement has been reached with the management of Belfast International Airport which will support Ryanair’s future growth at the airport”.
