The boss of Ryanair accuses national companies of wanting to maintain an artificially low offer in order to be able to charge tickets at higher prices.

After the pandemic, Ryanair intends to strengthen its position in Europe by practicing low prices, announced Monday the boss of the low-cost airline Michael O’Leary. The company also intends to expand its fleet with the Boeing 737 MAX.
“Low prices are necessary”
The coronavirus pandemic does not seem to have slowed down Ryanair’s ambitions, quite the contrary. Michael O’Leary expects that once the virus is under control with vaccination, thefts will resume in numbers and quickly. This is why, according to him, low prices are necessary. The Irishman accuses national companies like Lufthansa or Air France / KLM of wanting to maintain an artificially low offer in order to be able to charge tickets at higher prices.
Ryanair, for its part, wants to expand its offer in Europe. Last week, the company announced that it had ordered 75 737 MAX planes. This aircraft has just completed its first consumer flight in the United States since two close accidents that killed 346 at the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019.

Objective: 200 million passengers per year
The low-cost company aims to transport more than 200 million passengers per year by 2022 at the latest, confirms Michael O’Leary. This is much more than in 2019, its record year with 152 million passengers on the clock.
