After winning the fifth division last year, Wrexham from Wales secured promotion with two rounds before the end of the league this year, so in 2020, two Hollywood actorsthe team bought by Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney (Cloudy Philadelphia, Mythic Quest) can continue in the third division next year.

Wrexham have struggled in the Fourth Division but have won five of their last eight games and, after securing a place in the play-offs on Tuesday, had the chance to fight for promotion outright on Saturday. It wasn’t enough to win, MK Dons and Barrow also had to lose, but in the end it all came together – Wrexham won 6-0 and their two rivals lost.

Thus, with two rounds to go, it is now certain that the Welsh team will be able to play in the third division again for the first time since 2004, which Ryan Reynolds was very happy about, as well as the fans. The actor wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that if anyone had told him a couple of years ago that he would cry tears of joy at a North Wales football match, it would have been Rob McElhenney. Reynolds congratulated Wrexham and wrote it was the best adventure of their lives.

The appearance of the Americans was initially greeted with reluctance, however, Welcome to Wrexham!, which is available here on Disney+. documentary series revealed that the two actors had not only come to the Welsh city to shoot a TV show, but were really serious about the investment. One of their biggest moves was the reactivation of former England goalkeeper Ben Foster, who had already retired, but the team was unable to win in the first season despite receiving a serious capital injection with their arrival. The fans, however, will surely forgive them after the previous two seasons.
