The recent interpretation of Channing Tatum as Gambit in the movie “Deadpool & Wolverine” has left a strong impression on Marvel Studios and fans of the saga. According to Ryan Reynolds, star and producer of the film, the Marvel team is “obsessed” with Tatum’s version of the iconic New Orleans mutant.
This enthusiasm could open the door to future projects for the character, including the possibility of a solo film. After several frustrated attempts to bring Gambit to the big screen, Tatum finally made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the film released in July 2024.

Although his appearance was brief, he managed to capture the essence of Remy LeBeau’s character, a mutant with the power to manipulate kinetic energy, known for his distinctive Cajun accent and his ability to throw explosive cards. Ryan Reynolds has been one of the main drivers of this version of Gambit, and in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, he shared that Marvel was impressed with Tatum’s performance. “They are obsessed with him in that role,” Reynolds confessed.
As with his own Deadpool character, sometimes you just need to see the actor in action to know he’s a perfect fit. Reynolds recalled how a clip leaked in 2014 was what ultimately prompted 20th Century Fox to greenlight the first “Deadpool” movie, and believes something similar could happen with Gambit.

Gambit’s possible appearance in future Marvel projects is not limited to a simple cameo. Tatum’s performance has generated interest in a film dedicated exclusively to this character. According to various sources, there has already been a meeting between Tatum and Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, to discuss his participation in upcoming projects.
While there are no official confirmations yet, Feige’s backing and executive interest could usher in a new era for Gambit in the MCU. Additionally, Tatum has publicly expressed his gratitude to Reynolds for his support and making his portrayal of Gambit possible.
