After a 20-year hiatus, Jennifer Garner has once again taken on the role of Elektra in the third installment of the films. Deadpool; a return that delighted Ryan Reynolds, who paid him a beautiful tribute in a post on Instagram.
“She has a black belt in kindness, but she has an unwavering hurricane of vengeance inside her. I’ve worked with Jen twice now. She brings a completely different skill set to each film, but she can’t hide a detail… No matter how talented someone is, you can’t hide their humanity. She’s not only one of my favorite performers, she’s one of my favorite people. I love her and will owe her one now and forever. Or five. #ElektraForever,” the actor wrote Monday.
His post includes a carousel of photos taken on the set of Deadpool & Wolverine. It shows Jennifer Garner fighting as Elektra, laughing with lead actor and director Shawn Levy, and in action with her actor friend in his famous red and black costume.
“I will fight the bad guys for you everyday, thank you so much for having me and for your years of kindness and generosity,” Jennifer Garner took the time to comment on her friend’s touching post.
Also on Monday, the actress shared a video montage of the long hours of training that allowed her to “become Elektra again.”
“I remember when Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds had the idea for Elektra Natchios to appear in the film Deadpool 3 – we were on the set of The Adam Project and they gave each other this look that they have that can communicate an idea, 20 pages of dialogue, nuclear codes – there’s a crazy artistic destiny between these two,” explained the actress who had to work hard to regain her “Marvel physique.”
His intensive training included boxing, lots of weight lifting, trampolining, and lots of sai (a traditional Asian weapon used by his character) manipulation.
“I didn’t know Elektra and I needed an ending, but Shawn and Ryan did,” the star added.
