“Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s AFC Wrexham Secures Promotion to League Two in “Welcome to Wrexham” Documentary Series.”

‘Deadpool’ star Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, known for his role in ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’, lifted their Welsh football club AFC Wrexham to the fourth-highest division from England. Even Prince William congratulated them.

Sport writes the most beautiful stories: two Americans who know nothing about football take over a traditional English fifth division club and manage to raise it. It sounds a bit like “Ted Lasso”, but that’s what actually happened. The whole thing was documented in FX’s documentary series ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, which can be streamed from us via Disney+. And the two lead actors are movie star Ryan Reynolds (“Deadpool,” “Free Guy”) and his friend and colleague Rob McElhenney (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet”).

This weekend, AFC Wrexham, which the pair have led since 2020, secured the long-awaited promotion from the National League to League Two, English football’s fourth tier. The team won the decisive relegation game three to one against Boreham Wood. Via Twitter, the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, also congratulated the club: “A club with such an amazing history, who can look forward to a very exciting future in the Football League. You make Wales proud”. You can read more information on Serienjunkies.de. (Bjarne Bock)
