Ryan Gosling opens up about family life and career in GQ summer edition interview

Hollywood handsome Ryan Gosling (42) has been seen in a number of big films, including “The Notebook”, “La La Land” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love”. Now the days are also counting down to the next blockbuster, namely “Barbie” – which premieres this summer.

Now the Canadian actor has appeared in a big interview, and at the same time graces the cover, in the summer edition of the magazine GQprobably in connection with the press tour for the film.

There, among other things, he lifts the veil on his family life and reveals why he “retired” from the limelight.

– Didn’t think about children

It was in 2011 that romance rumors began to abound around Gosling and actress Eva Mendes (49). The duo had been friends for many years, before friendship turned into love.

Twelve years later, they are still lovers, and together they have daughters Esmeralda (8) and Amada (7). However, becoming a father was not something Gosling thought he would be.

– I didn’t think about children before I met her, but after I met Eva, I realized that I didn’t want to have children without her, he tells the magazine.

The moment that changed “everything” occurred during a recording of a film in which they both starred.

– There was a scene in “The Place Beyond the Pines” where we pretended to be a family, and I didn’t really want us to pretend anymore. I realized that this was a life I would be very lucky to have.

Took a break

After Gosling and Mendes had their second child, Amada, in 2016, he took a four-year hiatus from Hollywood and acting.

In the interview, he says that the break was about the daughters in particular.

– I got bored

– I wanted to spend as much time as I could with Amada and Esmeralda.

Now, however, he is back in the film business. Last year, Mendes could tell The Daily Telegraph that when they are on work trips, the daughters are homeschooled.

– I don’t teach at home myself. I’ve tried and it’s not one of my strengths, she admitted, adding that they always try to keep the family together.

– Especially when the children are small. We are lucky enough to have someone with us on the trips who can teach the children, so that they don’t end up behind and at the same time get to experience new places and cultures.
