However, the 43-year-old Canadian actor is not completely satisfied, and even expressed his disappointment after neither the director of the film, Greta Gerwig, nor the main character, Margot Robbie, received nominations in the categories recognizing the best directors and the best female protagonists.
Their work should also be recognized along with the other candidates who were very deservedly nominated

Although she really fell from the director category, Greta Gerwig can still receive a statue together with her husband, Noah Baumbach, for the best adapted screenplay, while Margot Robbie can be somewhat compensated in the best film category, since she produced the film.

At the same time, Gosling is very happy about the nomination of his co-star America Ferrera, who will win her first Oscar for her role as Gloria. Although the actress is very grateful for the nomination, she indicated that she was also disappointed that Gerwig and Robbie did not get a chance in the aforementioned categories.
“What Margot brought to the table as an actor is honestly incredible,” he said of the lead actor’s contribution to the film’s success. Ferrera then praised the director’s performance: in his opinion, Greta Gerwig did everything a director can do to deserve the award.
Regarding his own nomination, Gosling said that he felt very honored by the nomination and was proud to have played a plastic doll named Ken on the big screen. “But there is no Ken without Barbie, and no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally celebrated film,” it said in a statement.
