In the areas of onshore wind power and solar power, RWE Renewables Europe & Australia is one of the largest electricity producers in Europe and has risen to become a “super player” in renewable energies. With the comprehensive “Growing Green” investment and growth strategy, the entire group is expanding its powerful and green generation capacity – to 50 gigawatts by 2030.
RWE is investing more than 50 billion euros gross in this decade. For RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, the focus is on the core markets in Europe and Australia. The project pipeline is well filled – in all technologies: battery storage, onshore wind power and solar energy.
Energy from wind and sun in XXL format: In Sweden we already operate one of the largest European onshore wind farms, in Australia one of the largest solar power plants in the country.
The company is also testing innovations and promising technologies at various locations: A floating photovoltaic system has been producing green electricity since 2022. The installation consists of around 13,400 solar panels that were launched on a cooling water lake in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant. In Germany, RWE Renewables Europe & Australia has successfully commissioned a photovoltaic system with connected battery storage – the first of its kind at RWE in Europe. In addition, the company is preparing the construction of an agricultural photovoltaic system together with a research center as a partner.
In order to keep up the pace of expansion and to better meet the different requirements in the technologies, the former subsidiary RWE Renewables GmbH has divided the business. The global offshore segment is covered by the independent subsidiary RWE Offshore Wind GmbH.
