Kigali, Tuesday August 08, 2023. The President of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, ended his three-day visit (06-07-08 August) to Rwanda, the land of a Thousand Hills.
At Kigali International Airport, President Rajoelina was escorted off the plane by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Rwanda, Dr. Vincent Biruta, surrounded by senior officials, including members of the forces of Rwandan security. Before ending his visit to Rwanda, President Rajoelina visited the Masoro industrial zone in the Gasabo district, still in the city of Kigali.

President Rajoelina hailed the performance of this factory and the Rwandan policy of setting up industrial installations which constitute a pole of economic development. He claimed that Madagascar will also set up similar facilities across the country: “We are here, with all those whom we have brought to observe the performance of your economic and industrial sector. I think we have a real picture of how we can do it in our country, the best that Rwanda has achieved and that we can manage to do the same in Madagascar”. Then, the Malagasy President said that in general, what he saw and noted in Rwanda in general, reinforces the capacity of Africa to find solutions for itself.
Then President Rajoelina continued: “We have plans and from this the experiences and lessons will help us through the good governance of President Paul Kagame. There is no doubt that what we have seen firsthand here has shown and demonstrated how Africa is moving into the future. Rwanda shows that Africa itself has solutions”.
It should be noted that, so far, the Kigali Special Economic Zone has received an investment of three billion US dollars. In the year 2022, the products produced at that time were sent abroad and brought in Rwanda about 500 million dollars. It was during this period that 15,000 permanent jobs were created.
It is also expected that in 2030, investment in this field will increase to eight billion dollars, the production of processed products which will be exported and will bring in Rwanda around 1.2 billion dollars, and those who have permanent jobs in this domain will reach the number of 50,000.
