RVS / LU wins five sets in the duel of Jelgava volleyball teams

Women

On Sunday, Jelgava won the Riga Volleyball School / University of Latvia (RVS / LU) in the duel of Latvia’s leading teams in the Optibet Baltic Women’s Volleyball League. Jelgavniece won the guests with the result 3-2 (25:20, 22:25, 20:25, 25:20, 15:11).

The winners were Liene Šimkuse with 19 points, Līga Petuhova scored 15 points, Kristīne Gabranova scored 14 points and Līva Bredika scored 11 points three times. Vlada Pridatko got 24 points for Rigans, 20 for Adelina Gerlina and 17 for Kristine Kramena.

“Jelgava” won two victories over the weekend, beating the team of “Riga Stradins University” / “Minus Volleyball School” (RSU / MVS) in three sets on Saturday. RVS / LU also won this team in three sets on Friday. Daugavpils University / MiLATss, on the other hand, suffered two losses over the weekend, giving up 1-3 to the Tallinn University / Kikas team and also acknowledging the superiority of Tallinn’s Audentes SG / NK in four sets.

In the overall ranking table, “Jelgava” ranks with 24 points in ten matches, the seventh with 20 points in 11 battles is RVS / LU. RSU / MVS with ninth points in 11 games is in ninth place, but “Daugavpils University” / “MiLATss”, which has accumulated one point in ten battles, is in the 12th position. Five teams from Estonia, four from Latvia and three from Lithuania are playing in the Baltic League this season. Latvia is represented in this Baltic League season by “Riga Volleyball School” / “University of Latvia” (RVS / LU), “Riga Stradins University” / “Minus Volleyball School” (RSU / MVS), “Jelgava” and “Daugavpils University” / “MiLATss ”. Last season, Tallinn’s TalTech / Tradehouse volleyball players were crowned champions, beating RVS / LU 3-0 in the final. The Jelgava team won the Latvian championship.

Men

Daugavpils University / Ezerzeme (DU / Ezerzeme) team won the Credit24 Baltic Volleyball Championship match on Sunday. At home, Daugavpils beat “Parna” led by Avo Kel and represented by Tom Schwann 3-1 (25:21, 20:25, 26:24, 25:22). Andris Širjakovs scored 24 points, three of them in the block, and Nazar Getman had 11 points, two with “aisles”. Anton Nazarov and Deniss Pavlov scored nine points and scored four and two points, respectively.

Markus Ūskari scored 26 points for his opponents, but Schwann scored ten points, six of them with “aisles”. Tartu BigBank is a convincing leader in the tournament table with 25 points in nine games. DU / “Ezerzeme” is in the sixth place with nine points in eight battles, but the people of last year in the fifth position have accumulated the same balance. Behind Daugavpils club are the other three Latvian teams – “RTU Robežsardze” / ”Jūrmala” has scored nine points in eight games, Jēkabpils “Lūšu” team has six points in seven games, but “Biolars” / “Jelgava MSĢ” has been left in six dues and occupies last position.

This season, nine teams are participating in the Credit24 Championship – four from Estonia (Tartu Bigbank, Parnu, Tallinn Selver and TalTech) and Latvia (Daugavpils University / Ezerzeme, RTU Border Guard). “Jūrmala”, Jēkabpils “Lūši” and “Biolars” / “Jelgava MSĢ”) and one Lithuanian unit – Klaipėda “Amber Volley”. Last season’s tournament was celebrated by Tallinn’s “Selver”, which beat “Saaremaa” in the final, but the third place was won by Jēkabpils “Lūši”.
