R+V Versicherung becomes new sponsor of the ARD Sportschau

On August 24, the ARD Sportschau will start the new 2024/25 season with the Bundesliga. In addition to long-standing partner Krombacher, R+V Versicherung will also be on board as a new co-sponsor. ARD has now announced this.

The sponsorship package includes both the Sportschau from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the Sportschau Bundesliga from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. “We are delighted to have won R+V Versicherung as the new program sponsor for the flagship of Bundesliga coverage on Das Erste. This brings two quality brands even closer together,” says Uwe Esser, TV director at the marketing company ARD Media.

Tipico pulls out

Most recently, the sports betting provider Tipico was co-sponsor of the Sportschau. As the Evangelical Press Service (epd) reports, its contract is now expiring. Tipico’s sponsorship has repeatedly come under criticism. Most recently, SWR Board Chairman Hans-Albert Stechl raised the question of whether advertising for a sports betting provider was compatible with the public welfare orientation of the public broadcasters.

Sportschau records increasing reach

The ARD Sportschau is one of the station’s flagship programs. Last season, it was able to increase its average reach by 5 percent compared to the previous season, reaching an average of 3.8 million viewers, with a peak of 4.5 million. “The Sportschau remains the benchmark with a net reach of 37 million. Our advertising customers also benefit directly from this, of course,” says Uwe Esser.
