Ruud de Wild with trial and error ‘back in the right direction’

“It was an emotional, difficult and uncertain time, but we are going in the right direction again,” says the former fashion designer when she is asked during the interview how Ruud is doing now. According to Olcay, her love is not yet able to handle much physically, but they are working on that by walking a lot together. “The first weeks he couldn’t even get out of the street and now he walks a few kilometers a day. That gives confidence,” she says with hope and pride.

However, that trust has not always been there. Olcay says that it was very hard for her to see her husband beat down like that. That’s why it wasn’t always possible to stay positive. “When after the third operation he had to be towed from the house by the fire brigade to be rushed to the hospital, my heart sank,” she says about that radical period. “Ruud was also distraught. It was trial and error. Every time we expected good news, we got bad news. At a certain point you think: can I get out of here?”

Olcay now knows for sure that her love for Ruud is ‘limitless’. She explains: “I was very sure that I wanted to fight with him and support him anyway. You have to put yourself aside and the other at number 1. I had never done that before. Nothing was more important than Ruud help on top of it. If I had experienced this a few years ago, I would probably have happily continued with my own things. But my connection with Ruud is different than with other exes. It is very real. Then you also have more for each other. “
