“The Netherlands has again pointed out Insiya’s alleged illegal stay in India and will continue to do so,” said spokesman Sierk Nawijn on behalf of Prime Minister Rutte.
After her kidnapping in Amsterdam in 2016, Insiya was smuggled across the border without a passport by her father and hired accomplices and transported to India by private plane. The girl has been staying there for years now, without having a valid residence permit in India.
Millionaire father must bake in
Rutte has also pointed out to his colleague that the kidnapping father – millionaire Shehzad Hemani – has now been sentenced in absentia to nine years for child abduction by a Dutch judge. According to his spokesperson, Rutte has made it penetratingly clear that the case in the Netherlands is still heavy on the stomach and has undiminished attention from the government.

How India responded to Rutte’s statement, the spokesman does not want to say. According to him, the Dutch government continues to support mother Nadia Rashid in her attempts to get the now seven-year-old Insiya back to the Netherlands in a legal and diplomatic way.
Mother hopeful
“I am very happy that the Dutch government and in particular Prime Minister Mark Rutte support me and Insiya”, mother Nadia responds. “Hopefully this conversation will bring a breakthrough, primarily in the interest of Insiya who has been waiting for almost five years to be reunited with mom. I hope that the Indian Prime Minister, Mr Modi, will also act in the interest of Insiya and send her back home to the Netherlands. I am hopeful and confident that I will be able to hug my girl soon. ”
